Leadership Development Citizenship Education Initiative (LDCEI)

The  Georgia District Leadership Development Citizenship Education Initiative (LDCEI) seeks to equip high school students, primarily sophomores to seniors, with vital leadership skills. LDCEI aims to develop the next generation of leaders. Its mission starts with young people, particularly those who demonstrate the potential to comprehend and apply the fundamental principles needed by leaders, as well as those who, by virtue of their age and education, are often looked upon as role models. The LDI curriculum is designed around three central components: (1) Leadership, (2) Citizenship, and (3) Higher Education. In addition to the workshops on Leadership skills, the Institute has Oratorical, Poetry, and Talent competitions as well as other scholarship activities.

Voteless People is a Hopeless People

A Voteless People Is a Hopeless People is one of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, originally launched in the 1930s during an era of widespread voter suppression, promotes political awareness, voter education, and registration within underserved and historically disenfranchised communities. It continues to serve as a vital tool in the fight for civic equality and social justice.

In the state of Georgia, this program has been a driving force behind meaningful engagement in the democratic process. Chapters across the state are actively involved in registering voters, hosting forums, and advocating for voter rights. Georgia stands as a model for how Alpha Phi Alpha continues to shape political landscapes through action and advocacy.

In Georgia, the impact includes:

  • Alpha Day at the Capitol: Brothers from local chapters across Georgia convene annually at the Georgia State Capitol to observe and engage in the legislative process. Members tour the Capitol, sit in the galleries of both the House of Representatives and the State Senate, and are honored with official resolutions and acknowledgements from both chambers.

  • Policy & Voter Engagement Panels: Chapters host discussions on critical voting issues—including voter access, redistricting, and ballot integrity—educating communities on how policy decisions impact their everyday lives.

  • Voter Registration Drives: Brothers coordinate efforts to register new voters in both urban centers and rural areas, ensuring all communities have access to the ballot box.

  • Political Representation: Proudly recognizing Brother Raphael Warnock, a Georgia native and Alpha man, who made history as the first African American U.S. Senator from Georgia and the first Black Democrat elected to the Senate from a Southern state. His leadership reflects the very goals of this program.

Through these efforts, Georgia Alpha men continue to turn the belief behind A Voteless People Is a Hopeless People into tangible action—empowering communities and shaping the future through the power of the vote.
